My Gold Gold Collection!

I love this pair of Gold canvas that I bought from Adidas. I've also modified the laces' part with a pair of gold adidas buckels and added a pair of gold studs which I bought from Taipei at the night market at both side of the shoe holes.

To match with the gold canvas, it can go with a gold casio watch, very affordable and simple, something that I bought from Taipei Ximending. Otherwise, I also have another gold Hello Kitty watch to match. This kitty watch was a gift from my galfrenz bought from Sanrio Puroland, Japan for my birthday.

I have a couple of gold bags in my collection, from big to small to serve my different needs. Usually I always carry big totes as I have lots of barang barang whenever I commute around. The small bags are usually party bags.

Of course, I have complimentary gold gadgets too. A to-die-for gold motorola clam phone, which I simply luuuuurveeee, but I seldom use it as the functions are too basic. I love tech-ky phones.
To top it all, I once had gold acrylic nails too. There was a period where I was crazy about long acrylic nails (Which I still lurve them now, but can't find 4 hours to spare to do them). This was done at a store called Bzbody @ Far East Plaza last year. And it was the first time for me to have them completed within 1 1/2 hr. That was fast.

My Craze for Slam Dunk and start of illustrations of Manga Characters

When I was schooling, I thought that spending money on comic, manga, anime, etc was a complete waste of money & time. A lot of my friends did that, back then. The funny thing was, somehow or another, I came across the super famous Slam Dunk series (Which I can't remember how and why) and I got addicted to it. My sister got addicted to it too.

Then I got my parents to buy for me the whole series of the anime (Which costed over S$100 for the set then) And I bought the manga collection. My dear friend, Boing, even went to order a color manga limited edition for me as a gift.

Then my sis introduced 'Dear Boys' to me and the manga characters are so well-drawn. So I did the marker illustrations of the 2 key characters as above.

In church, I was tasked to drive a mini event for the youths to participate. So following the Slam Dunk craze, I drew an application form using the Slam Dunk characters, which I thought was quite cute. Haha.... I was just in secondary school then.

My Amateur Work in 1999

When I was 19, I was approached by one of my church member for help, to help his company illustrate some drawings for a brochure. This assignment was for the Singapore Busker's Festival 1999. I think it's already discontinued a long time ago...

Back then, if I remember correctly, computer was only just beginni
ng to warm up to the consumers. I was still using paintbrush and watercolor (My favorite material)

Out of sheer curiosity and excitement, I took it up and it was goo
d money! S$500 ~ S$700 a piece! For a young & amateur lad like me, it was like a huge bonus.

So, I took the brief & drew for the cover & the interior of the brochure for them. Can't remember the company, I just have a blurr image of commuting to Chinatown almost every week to show them my art work.

It was my first and my last job as a free lancer. I was a stone-head 19 years old lass whom almost blew when the boss used a red pen & drew over my painter, to indicate where he wanted the changes to be made. Boy that was infuriating. But because I had made a promise to deliver, I completed the work nevertheless.

I love the cover. I actually hated clowns. I thought clowns were devious characters. (Due to the influence of the show 'The Puppet Master') But I did my research on how to draw them and I thought the output was quite satisfactory to me. I love the rich colors (I love rich colors then) This A3 painting was drawn with a mixture of poster color as well as watercolor pencils! Can you believe that! I actually did another A3 piece for the cover but this was chosen. Back then I did not have a digital camera, nor did I bother to take a shot of it. I can't even remember the look of the second piece I did.

The rest were really amateur drawings of the map of Singapore, but they also fetched good money for me.
